We tried to find a mom for our little orphan, by introducing him to a visiting pair of Mallards - sadly, they wanted nothing to do with him.
He followed them around for ages, but they kept ignoring him or chasing him away.
I distracted myself (from my annoyance with the ducks) by taking pictures of our newly planted Japanese Maple trees. I'll do a dedicated post on our garden's progress soon.....really pretty. Even though there is still so much to do, it is SO satisfying when visitors walk through our back door and say 'oh wow'.
It has been such a rewarding experience watching our little duckling grow. The rate of growth is just remarkable - quite unbelievable. Here he is just 10 days later.
It was lovely to watch Maxine trying to interact with the duckling.
Just look how big he was next to Jessi.
