We spent Friday morning sight-seeing around KK, after having some lovely 'street' breakfast.
After breakfast we went to the main market in KK, where pearls and other arts and crafts can be found. Again, it definitely helped being with Florence, who bartered very well. We did some great shopping!
We went to visit the Sabah Museum, which is a cultural museum, showing the cultural history and diversity of the local people. Part of it was an outdoor traditional village :
A traditional bedroom. All the walls and floors of the house are made of bamboo.
This would allow air to blow through the structure and help to keep it cool.
Not called a 'long' house for no reason!
This house was reflective of a different tribe / area, and much more colourful.
This was a dancing platform, where people would dance. Quite bizarre as it moved (like a trampoline!). You can see the wooden supports beneath it.
We stopped for lunch next. Such pretty views from the restaurant.
Afterwards we headed to Tanjung Aru, which is a very well known beach in Kota Kinabalu.
The weather was starting to turn again at this point, as you can see.
Next stop, our cruise ship....
